Bird
I've been practicing letting my energy stay really high and touching the birds anyway. Now this takes trust on their part because they can feel the intensity and intimacy simultaneously. If they thought of me as another bird, it might be a good reason to try and keep me in line. As it is, they agree to follow and to be gentle.
I touch Heyoka all over. He looks at me upside down from between his legs as I move up from his knee up under his wing pretending to preen. I lay my head on his perch so he will play with my hair, then I beckon him to stand on a stick I've hung on the door. My big idea is to get him used to coming out that way. He'll tease me, but he's only stood on it and let me pet him with the door open once when Joell was here. Today I held my senegal just outside, kissing his yellow belly and dancing him on my shoulder--all in an attempt to lure Heyoka out. The macaw's molting and still picking feathers, but he has many more than he did when I got him a few months ago. I attribute this change to the "neural wi-fi" in my aviary.
